Ristandi has been working with the Northern Mysteries for two decades. He is the Master of Blåkulla Hall, (the Southern California branch of the International Rune-Gild), a member of the Woodharrow Institute and director of the Integral Runic Studies Association. He holds a Ph.D. in Folklore and Mythology from UCLA, and his writings on Northern European spiritual traditions appear a variety of journals and magazines like Leidstjarna, Rune-Kevels,  Runa, and Symbel: A Journal of Early Germanic and Runic Studies. He has have previously presented talks, classes, workshops, and rituals in Los Angeles, Austin, San Antonio, South Bend, Chicago, at the Starwood festival in Western New York, at PantheaCon in San Jose, and at the Feast of Ægir Heathen gathering in Central California. Specializing in folklore of the supernatural, he has appeared on or served as a consultant for numerous television programs on The Learning Channel, NBC, and HBO.

Strongly oriented towards the pragmatic, operative aspects of traditional sorcery, Ristandi’s particular research interests include: archaic and latter-day traditions of Germanic folk magic in Europe and the U.S.; Early Modern Scandinavian magical manuscripts or Galdrabækur, and the theory and practice of Germanic Necromancy.

When not delving into sinister secrets best left alone, Ristandi resides in Los Angeles with his Wife, Daughter, and two cats, and whiles away the hours playing Irish Percussion and Germanic Lyre.
